The things I do for free tickets

Blogosphere July 24th, 2007

I was waiting in anticipation for this nuffnang event and would even turn down free NDP tickets so that I’d be able to make it for this event… I would have queued and camped for free tickets, stayed up and online to be amongst the first 200 people to click on some web link, glue my eyes on TV for some keywords to SMS to some number, and even paste nuffnang ads on my entire side bar…. but… they want me to write… what? The things I do for free tickets.

Hehe.. this sort of reminds me of balloting for NDP tickets all over again! :P

How about if I come dressed in just the Singapore flag? But I guess the security would be called in before I can even say Rush Hour. Moreover, it’s probably not respectful to the country if I were to just wrap myself with the Singapore flag. But! I can come in a red top and a white bottom and draw the crescent and stars at the back of my shirt. :) Well, at least it resembles the Singapore flag. ;)

Oh wait! I know what I’d do. But this is only for people who know me well enough to know that the last time I wore a dress is years ago. How about if I wore a nice dress for the event? Damn, I’d even bring a red bag to show my patriotism for the nation. :)

But how about this? One good deed deserves another, I’d post a National Day quiz and give away a prize for the best answer (oh, for the record, this is for real, and in the spirit of celebrations anyway). I’d top up the prize if I get free tickets for Rush Hour 3!

I know, I know! I’d volunteer to help out at the event. Nuffnang, do you need additional manpower for your event? I can help to organize the event on that day if you need more hands… of course, as long as I get tickets for the show… and the goodie bag too. :) To make things fair, I’d paste Merlions, Vanda Miss Joaquims, national flag tatoos and even carry a backpack with flags sticking out that I’d look like a walking flag-seller. :)

Now, I just need to remember to send my email… :P

Ed: Actually, I thought it’d be just nice to mingle and get to know more people. After all, isn’t that what gatherings are all about? Getting to know more people and be a connector to others… ;) And oh, I’m a goodie bag collector :P

Horrifically disfigured in freak accident

General July 24th, 2007

I was reading the above post from Geek Goddess and happened to meet the Serial Lazy Entrepreneur online and we had a small chat. Actually, it became more of a monologue… and it’s reproduced below. Some grammar had been modified from the original conversation, but the essence is still there:

Me: I just read estee’s post on the disfigure thingie
Me: The loved one will still love you but you will lose your friends
SLE: Loose friends?
SLE: How so?
Me: Erm…
Me: It’s a cyclic thing
Me: The scarred person (SP) will be aware of his/her (hereafter her) scars
Me: Then the SP will be afraid to go out
Me: So SP sees lesser of her friends
Me: Subsequently SP drifts away from friends
Me: The “true lover” (TL) will remain
Me: But SP tells TL to find someone else
Me: Then sometimes TL gets irritatingly persistent
Me: SP locks TL out of her life
Me: SP is now alone
Me: SP dies a lonely death
SLE: Gee…
SLE: Kinda pessimistic…
SLE: But no less true…

Well… I should know better. I have had first hand experience of it… :(
