A note on the meaning of ‘relational’ database:

“Relation” simply means “Table”.

The data in each row of a table are related in the same way (you can say the same relationship exist between the data in all rows of the same table), i.e. a simplistic example: in a table called ‘ContactInfo’ with fields Name, Phone, Email; each row describes a person and you can describe the relationship as ” can be contacted via and “.

Seems obvious, and we take it for granted really, but it is really a whole body of knowledge by itself.
