… or maybe it’s just me and my phone. Apparently, there’s a new service where you can get the contact number of the officer you are looking for by just sending the name of that officer to 74688. I tried sending one but there was no reply. Sigh. Worse still, there was no mention of any prices that comes with it. Wonder what’s my next bill going to be like. Hmm…

MOBILE phone users can now obtain the contact information of government officers at a press of a button.

The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) has teamed up with the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) to launch a mobile service where users can obtain information on the Singapore Government Directory Interactive (SGDI) through SMS.

This is part of the iGov2010 plan to increase the reach of government e-services.

Users simply have to SMS the name of the public officer whose contact number they are looking for to 74688 .

A list all the people with that name, along with their telephone numbers, will appear on the phone screen.
