The match of 30th January 2008 was one of the most spectacular that I have ever seen this season. Not only did the Slingers defeat the Dragons, they smashed them completely with a 108-93 score.

Before the games started, anyone would have thought that the Slingers would be up against a very strong team. The Dragons had 3 points done very gracefully and accurately – almost without stress nor pressure; and when the Slingers did their warm-up, one can only worry about the outcome of the match. "We are going to get smashed again" was the statement of the day.

But first, a photo break.

(more photos coming up… of the wonderful match)

Well, I guess everyone, including myself, have to eat our words when the match started. While the Slingers didn’t get a strong lead at the start of the game, they were strong and stead – keeping the best only for the later part of the game. the Slingers were obviously more organized in this game compared to previous matches. Instead of shooting blindly when any of the players get the ball, they actually paused to think for a split second before making the next move – an obvious thought process was going on – only that the Dragons didn’t know what it was.

At one point in the game, the scores were as much as 20 points apart, which was really incredible! On hindsight, I guess the Dragons probably made the same mistake as the Slingers did in the previous games – that, while their skill are good, they lack planning and can’t work well under pressure. Well, of course this is my personal opinion and I may be wrong.

Go Slingers, go!

This game also marked the handover from MP Wee Siew Kim to Dato Tony Fernandes, Founder and Group CEO of Asia’s leading and largest low-cost airline and award winning AirAsia, to whom I am confident that the team will soar will his lead and directions. To start off the celebrations, 10 tickets to Phuket and KL were given away free to any of the selected group of people who could do a 3-pointer (or somewhere near a 3-pointer). At one point, the commentator realised that the people were having so much problems that he started to give the tickets away "sudden-death" style in that as long as someone could get the ball in, he or she gets the ticket. It took… slightly longer than expected, I would say.

Eventually, a lady walked away with at least 2 tickets if not more while another guy walked away with at least 3, I think. Darn, I wished I was there! Haha… 😉 I may not be that good, but with a few free throws, I think I might be able to get something in. Hey, I practised for my million dollar throw, ok?

Speaking of the million dollars, have you entered the contest yet? Apparently the question is in the page now () and the good thing is, the answer is here. If for some reason, you can’t load the page, it’s… One. yi1. Satu. Hanna. Yet. Yit. "1". Couldn’t be more obvious right? Now, you must be wondering, why am I even bothering telling you about the million dollar shot? Well, I am really, quite a pragmatic person. If you really got selected for the throw, which you’d definitely have a high chance of (especially if you clicked on the link above), then I’d expect a small cut. Like 1% of whatever you get.

But yes, do drop by, fill in your particulars, then *check your inbox for the activation link* and *click on it*… and you are in! It’s as simple as that! 😉 Remember, the answer is "1", without the quotes 😉

If you are not interested with a million dollars, then I hope you are interested in Jay Chou, Basketball (I presume you are if you are reading this post), Kung Fu, or all of the above. There was a gala/preview ticket giveaway during the match break. The thing was that, the commentator was giving out questions and asking people to go up to him, which seemed like an easy task – provided you have the answers to the questions. However, the commentator was no where to be seen!!!

One down for him, and that’s a strong D-own.

So yes, do catch Jay on 13th February 2008, but I am not sure if Jay will be at the stadium – if not, then do catch Kung Fu Dunk at a cinema near you, starting from 7th February 2008. 😉

Meanwhile, here’s a Happy Chinese New Year to you!
