Yes, it may soon cost more than just the season parking for residents to drive out. Start from (next?) Monday, it’ll cost drivers an additional $1 to drive out of their domiciles if they start anywhere near the new ERP gantries at Upper Bukit Timah Road, Toa Payoh Lorong 6, Upper Boon Keng Road, Geylang Bahru Road and Kallang Bahru Road. This was apparently needed to help ease congestion that may occur there during the peak hours of 8:00am to 9:00am.

This is really one news that people wished was an April Fool’s joke.

RATES for five new Electronic Road Pricing gantries that will begin operating from Monday were announced yesterday.

The gantries, at Upper Bukit Timah Road, Toa Payoh Lorong 6, Upper Boon Keng Road, Geylang Bahru Road and Kallang Bahru Road, are mostly in residential areas.

For the gantry at Upper Bukit Timah Road, motorists will have to pay $1 if they drive through it between from 8am and 8.30am.

For the Upper Boon Keng Road gantry, the rate is $1 from 8.30am to 9am.

Those using the other three gantries will be charged $1 between 8am and 9am, said the Land Transport Authority.
